Saturday morning, we headed way up into the mountains (a sCaRy drive if you look down--no guard rails or anything and VERY narrow paths to drive on!) to go fishing. Along the way, we took a brief detour so the girls could play in the snow for a little bit--We couldn't get too far into it because it was extremely slippery and the day wouldn't have started well if one of us slid off of the mountain! It was fun to see snow in July though! =)
Then, we continued our journey up to a little hidden spot where we had a picnic and enjoyed the outdoors...Cortlyn LOVED fishing with Uncle Roger (POOR fish probably didn't know what hit them by the time she was through examining them and throwing them back into the water or sometimes ROCK (OUCH!). She was SO patient (surprisingly!) waiting for him to catch a fish and got SO excited when he got one for her to throw back! She also found it hysterical when he "caught" a tree by accident a time or two!
Maya took a little turn at fishing, but wanted nothing to do with the fish itself. She played Farkle (a fun dice game) at our picnic spot, in the middle of the trees, with Mimi, Aunt Anna, and Aunt Vicki.
Both girls made lovely little "pine cone castles" as well. Later, Aunt Anna's cousin Berney showed up with his wife, Lisa, and their dogs--Dot and Jasmine. Maya and Cortlyn enjoyed playing with them too!
SUCH a FUN, relaxing day...
